About Dehradun

Dehradun, the capital of Uttaranchal is prettily placed in the centre of the heavenly Doon Valley surrounded by the lower ranges of mountains -n the Himalays to the north and mist clad Shivalik mountain ranges to the south. Because of its geographical location, it is also called Doon Valley. The valley echoes with the soul-stirring numbers played by the two most revered rivers of India -Ganga and Yamuna flowing by its sides.

The main resource of Dehra Dun is nature. Deep forests, waterfalls cascading down melodiously and pleasant climatic conditions score well with the tourists. There are several look out points in and around the valley where nature reigns. Sahasradhara is one such place known for the green hills, grandeur of seasonal flowers and creepers.

Over the years, the enchanting city still holding the splendour of colonial era has metamorphosed into a large urban centre city with a population of 447,808. The legacy of Raj era can be seen in some of the best boarding schools and the famous bakery shops present in the city. For the tourists, it is a charming experience to see a large number of students in school uniforms, filling the streets with their infectious peals of laughter.

Stroll around the Clock Tower, the activity hub of the city. Devour the typical Dehradun cuisine -the delicious Singal, aloo ke gutke or the mouthwateing Kumaoni raita -unique in taste! Enjoy the fragrance of the famous Dehradooni basmati rice, taste the delicious lychee and forge an everlasting relationship with the valley!
